ACSI’s Administrator Mentoring Program is for those new to the profession of Christian school administration. Each mentoree will be paired with a veteran administrator (mentor). The mentoring begins on August 1 and continues through June 15. The program includes a structured curriculum that will offer the mentoree many opportunities to improve and strengthen administrative skills.
The mentor and the mentoree will follow a carefully prescribed mentoring curriculum for an entire school year. The curriculum is designed to strengthen the mentoree’s problem-solving and decision-making skills and provide further training in such areas as:
- Evaluating your faculty
- Developing the budget
- Working with the Board
- Refining school admissions
- Planning faculty meetings
- Evaluating the instructional program
- Articulating the school’s philosophy
- Improving your professional writing
The mentoree will also have the opportunity to “shadow” their Mentor for an entire week. This week of observation will include the Mentor’s interaction with parents, teachers and board members. The mentoree will observe the “what” and the “how” of the job. How, for example, does the Mentor interact with teachers, students, staff, and parents? How does the Mentor juggle the urgent interruptions and yet maintain focus on the big picture?
