Welcome to ACSI’s Europe Office

Welcome to ACSI Europe. Actually, our region includes those countries from the Atlantic coast in the west to the eastern borders of Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland. This region is unique to ACSI in that it includes 27 countries and 20 major languages.

The regional office is located in Budapest, Hungary, in the “Dr. Gene Garrick Center for Christian Education” which is a ten minute drive from the international airport. It was established in 1993 to service primarily the national Christian schools that were developing in Central Europe (Romania, Hungary, Poland, Czech and Slovakia). Since then, our mandate has extended to service the entire geographic region including international Christian schools. Services to this large region are obviously limited to the availability of staff and material resources.

Our ACSI staff is made up of educational consulting teams, country facilitators, office staff, and a host couple to look after our Center. Many of our staff are expatriates from North America, but we have a number of outstanding national staff members to enrich our professional and cultural resources.

We seek to enable Christian teachers in our region to teach Christianly. Furthermore, we encourage the development of Christian schools. Services to the schools include in-service training for teachers, professional resource materials, training institutes, student services, conferences, and school evaluations to encourage school improvement.

We would love to hear from you. You can call, fax, write or email us.

Director’s Page

Hello. My name is Alan Brown, and I am the Regional Director for Europe of the Association of Christian Schools International. It is my special privilege to serve Christian educators in Europe, central Asia, and northern Africa to help influence children for Christ and his Kingdom.

I was raised in the United States and took my academic and professional training at The College of William and Mary and The College of New Jersey. My undergraduate degree is in psychology, and my graduate degree is in education and includes both teacher and director certifications.

After serving 15 years as a teacher, principal, and superintendent in the public school system, God called me to the position of headmaster of a K-12 Christian school with 500 students where I served for 16 years. That was followed by new assignments as an educational consultant to Christian Schools in the CIS and now as regional director for ACSI Europe.

My wife, Malinda, has taught for many years, recently for 16 years as an English, Bible, and art teacher at a Christian school and most recently as an educational consultant in the CIS and Europe. Together we have dedicated our lives to serving God through Christian education which provides hope for our new generation of young people. We believe with all our hearts that, “In Christ are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge,” Colossians 2:3, and that the purpose of all of life is to glorify God in all things.

We have come as your partners and colleagues, and we look forward to serving you and your students in the challenging days ahead. God bless you in your faithfulness. May you not grow weary in doing good.
