Association of Christian Schools International / ACSI / About ACSI / Senior Leadership

Larry TaylorI am inspired by the faith, courage, and reverence for God by Christian educators around the world! It reminds me of the story recounted in I Samuel 17 about David defeating Goliath. In verse 29, David’s response to the inaction of his elder brothers and the Israelites especially encourages me. He boldly and nobly answers the call to action by asking, "Is there not a cause?”

I can think of no greater cause than to partner with you as you advance Kingdom education. We fully believe that authentic devotion to the Christian faith and academic excellence are mutually reinforcing. There are not two or three forms of excellence, but rather an ethos that is cultivated throughout every facet of our schools. Faith is not separated from learning but rather integrated intentionally, resulting in a distinctive Christian worldview.

Scholarship and learning become an integral component to the maturation process known as discipleship. Thus, becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ, the ultimate objective of the Great Commission (Matt. 28:16-20), is the prize for which we strive; it is the highest form of excellence! It is certainly conceivable that we could produce students with the spiritual depth needed to enter our pluralistic society and not fall prey to empty philosophies. Rather, they would be equipped to saturate the marketplace to which God has called them with confidence, purpose, and an eternal perspective.

ACSI’s ongoing mission is to strengthen Christian schools and equip Christian educators worldwide as they prepare students academically and inspire them to become devoted followers of Jesus Christ. We want to serve you as you continue to cultivate and sustain a flourishing school. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you—thank you for your obedience to God’s call on your life—you are indeed making a difference.

Oct 7, 2020, 11:00 AM by Larry Lincoln - ACSI Communications
Colorado Springs, CO – The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Juan Cabrera as its new CIO. Cabrera will serve on the ACSI President’s Advisory Team and will provide strategic direction and oversight of association technology infrastructure.

He will provide leadership in the areas of analyzing the association’s complex business needs, developing and implementing strategies for new technology solutions, and managing the Information Technology (IT) team.

Cabrera assumed his duties on October 1, 2020.

Cabrera joins ACSI with more than 28 years of experience in the IT field. Over the course of his career, he has built IT teams and helped produce high quality systems and software. He also previously served as an overseas missionary for 10 years.

Juan CabreraPreviously, Cabrera worked for HJCB Global at its Latin American office in Quito, Ecuador, as Director of Information Systems. He held the position of Vice President of Global Information Technology at its successor organization, Reach Beyond, IT Project Manager and Applications Development Manager at Young Life, and most recently served as IT Infrastructure Manager at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

“I’m very thankful to be joining ACSI to help in providing technical vision and clarity to this great organization,” Cabrera said. “My hope is that we can implement technical tools and services that will allow ACSI to grow and strengthen Christian schools, students and educators around the world.”

According to  Dr. Larry Taylor, Cabrera is coming to the association at the right time as it moves forward with several new Strategic Initiatives. “Juan will play a significant role in supporting our new strategic plan that we announced last month,” Taylor said. “He is a perfect fit due to his wealth of experience in the IT field, and also because he is fluent in two languages and has spent significant time living and working in other cultures. He brings a lot to the table and will be a key player as ACSI continues to enhance its offerings and services to our members.”
