ACSI Announces New NW Regional Director
A search committee has unanimously selected Dr. Debi Miller to begin serving schools in the Northwest July 1. She has worked in Christian schools for many years and has a great passion to help Christian schools and educators grow in spiritual and academic effectiveness.
Dr. Miller is a native to the Northwest who brings a rich understanding of the region and a broad experience in its schools. She completed all of her higher education (BA, MA, and EdD) at George Fox University and began her teaching career at a local public school. Two years later she moved to Aloha, Oregon, to teach middle and high school English at Hope Christian School. She and her husband, Roger, founded Vancouver Christian High School, where she served as the assistant administrator for 10 years. She joined Multnomah University in 2006 to direct the teacher education program. During her eight years there she was involved in various university committees, including doing significant work in accreditation. She left Multnomah in 2014 to become head of school at Westside Christian High School in Vancouver.
Dr. Miller has published articles and led professional workshops for ACSI and other professional organizations. Her most recent presentation was at the ACSI Professional Development Forum in Oregon in October. She has also served on various ACSI accreditation teams over the years and currently serves as a mentor in the ACSI Leadership U program. She is a member of the ACSI President's Advisory Council, representing the Northwest Region.
The Millers are the parents of two adult children and have two grandchildren.
Dr. Ken Townsend will continue to serve as Northwest regional director through June 30, when he will retire. We will honor Dr. Townsend during the Leadership Conference at Seaside April 30; I hope you will be able to attend the conference and the celebration.
As you know, these are challenging times for Christian schools, and ACSI is blessed to have Dr. Miller step into this servant-leadership role. Please pray for her as she transitions into serving your school and all those committed to Christian education in the Northwest.
