Are you looking for an opportunity to renew your professional and spiritual growth? As Christian early educators, we understand the importance of nurturing all children and loving them right where they are so that trust is built between the child and teacher allowing for dynamic growth and development in each student.  Our conference theme, Nurturing Relationships Marked by Love and Boundaries, will direct the conference sessions to focus on modeling Jesus' love to our students while creating healthy boundaries in the classroom. Join early educators and develop a deeper understanding of ways to provide an engaging early education classroom environment that will allow children to feel safe, loved, and accepted.

Are You a Boomerang Educator?  

We all want to be blessed, and as well, want others to say we're a blessing to them. That takes real intentionality when it comes to teaching. The investment YOU make each day in the children YOU serve, does have eternal pay off. The world can seem like an unfriendly, threatening place, yet we all want safety, health, and happiness for ourselves and our loved ones. How can one ordinary person-you or anyone-make a positive difference in this world? One way is the practice the boomerang effect. Mary Rice Hopkins and Darcie Maze will share personal stories of the investment people made in their lives that helped shape and mold them.  We'll look at the parables in Scripture, sing and worship, and learn how to get positive "bounce back" that lasts a lifetime. No one can fill the spot that YOU were created for fill. God made you and the children you serve as His fearfully and wonderfully made creations. Would any of the children in your classroom be voted "least likely to succeed?" Learn how to sow deeply into the children in your care and change their future by being a boomerang educator. While the steps might be simple, the outcome could impact eternity, one life at a time.

Professional Development for Christian School Educators and Leaders

Professional development (PD) opportunities are nearly universal in the experiences of U.S. educators, both in public school settings and in Christian schools. The question of which PD strategies are most effective has become more critical in recent years, as schools face increasing internal and external pressures to improve student outcomes and optimize instructional expenditures. As a result, many school leaders are seeking to identify PD opportunities with high return on investment (ROI) in terms of student learning and achievement.

In an effort to address this issue systematically, a comprehensive literature synthesis was commissioned by ACSI (Swaner 2016). The synthesis, which surveyed over 500 scholarly articles and resources over the past 20 years, asked the question, “What are best practices in PD for Christian school teachers and leaders?” While little research was found specific to Christian education, what was available corroborated much of the broader literature on PD in K–12 schools. A set of characteristics of effective PD were identified in the literature, as well as a range of practices for which there exists research on their effectiveness. The synthesis also reviewed the evidence for the importance of cultures of continuous improvement to the effectiveness of any PD efforts.
