Nate Rogers Scholarship for Students with Disabilities Program

Mississippi allows children with speech-language impairments to receive vouchers to attend privateschools. Participating accredited private schools must be able to provide speech-language therapy. The maximum voucher amount is equal to the Mississippi Adequate Education Program base studentcost, i.e., the funding amount provided by the state to public schools. Students must be in grades K-6 and have been screened properly and diagnosed with speech-languageimpairment. Students are eligible if, during the previous school year, they attended a public or state-accreditedspecial-purpose school that "emphasizes instruction in speech-language therapy andintervention." The voucher is not available to fund homeschooling, virtual schools, or students injuvenile detention centers.  The program launched in 2013.

Mississippi Dyslexia Therapy Scholarship for Students with Dyslexia Program

Mississippi allows children with dyslexia to receive vouchers to attend accredited private schools thatprovide dyslexia therapy. The maximum voucher amount is equal to the Mississippi Adequate Education Program base studentcost, i.e., the funding amount provided by the state to public schools. Students must be in first through sixth grade and have been screened properly and diagnosedwith dyslexia. Students are eligible if they attended a public school before or a private school that"emphasizes instruction in dyslexia intervention." The voucher is not available to fund homeschooling,virtual schools, or students in juvenile detention schools. This program was launched in 2012.
