Early Education (Birth–PreK)

Early Education certification with ACSI is not a requirement for accreditation.

Initial Process 

The minimum requirement for an Early Education teacher certification with ACSI is an associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university. The minimum requirement for an Early Education Director certification is a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university. For initial certification with ACSI submit the following:

  1. Certification Application
  2. Application fee of $75 (US)
  3. Photocopies of official transcripts from a regionally accredited college/university which include your name, the college name and location, degree received, and the date degree was awarded. This information must be printed on the transcript by the college. ACSI does not accept copies of diplomas as verification of a degree.

Renewal Process

All renewals require an application and fee as requested on the application. Items pertaining to renewal will not be accepted unless they are included with an application and fee. When renewing a certificate, ACSI recommends applying no earlier than 6 months prior to the expiration date of your current certificate.  ACSI will not post-date certificates with an issue date of more than 6 months from the date of review.  Do not send items separately. To renew submit the following:

  1. Certification Application
  2. Application fee of $75 (US) for each type of certification
  3. Verification of renewal requirements as listed on the bottom portion of your certificate.  If you do not have a copy of your certificate you may email certification@acsi.org and an unofficial copy of your certificate which includes this information will be emailed to you.

Kindergarten–Grade 12

First Year K–12 Faculty and Administrators have a grace period for the first school year they are hired. Please check with your administrator before applying for certification.

Initial Process

The minimum requirement for K–12 certification with ACSI is a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university. For initial certification with ACSI submit the following:

  1. Certification Application
  2. Application fee of $75 (US) for each type of certification. For example, if you want both an elementary and secondary certificate the total fee is $150.
  3. Submit:
    • Photocopies of official transcripts from a regionally accredited college/university which include your name, the college name and location, degree received, and the date degree was awarded. This information must be printed on the transcript by the college. ACSI does not accept copies of diplomas as verification of a degree.
    • A permanent state certificate (optional). The state teaching certificate must be in the same grade levels and teaching area or administration area in which you wish to be certified. Substitute, Emergency, and Temporary state certificates are not accepted. If the state certificate uses codes, please ensure the key codes are included.

Note:

    • If your certificate has been expired for 3 or more years please visit the Certification Fees page for your options.
    • If your certificate expired prior to 2006 your file has been destroyed. You will need to apply as an initial applicant.
