FROM YOUR REGIONAL DIRECTOR
Thank You, Lord!
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:3–6
I am so thankful for you... for being the one who raised your hand to work in a Christ-centered school. It is truly a partnership in the gospel that we share with one another. There are so many challenges, and if we were to be totally transparent, one of them involves money. My prayer is that your good work will carry on long after you are gone. That's why stewardship is so important.
As I reflect on my years as a head of school, some of the most difficult seasons were those where it seemed impossible to make ends meet. Through those seasons, I learned so much about planning, budgeting, and fundraising. Good financial stewardship consists of four very important principles:
- Reliable forecasting
- Sound annual budgeting and fiscal practices
- Strategic financial planning that aligns with a strategic plan
- Mission-focused decision making
Right now you are making strategic decisions about increasing your tuition (or not) for the next school year and thinking about how to position your school for enrollment growth. Our next Leaders Professional Learning Community (LPLC) Zoom meeting will help you frame a financial structure that aligns with the four principles listed above for your school's business/finance plan so that you can make informed decisions over the long haul.
Let's get together and talk about these components of stewarding a Christian school. If you want to join the next LPLC meeting, email me and let me know.
Sit at your computer and join the meeting: Stewardship and Sustainability, November 30 at 10:00 AM If you can't attend, I will record it for you. Let me know and I'll send you the recording to watch at your convenience. The financial stewardship of a Christian school is hard work. At the end of the day, we all want to hear the Lord say, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" (Matthew 25:21)
