FROM YOUR REGIONAL DIRECTOR
True Leadership is God Aware
As the fall moves on toward winter, and your attention begins to turn toward the holiday season, here is a reminder from a national leader of the type we all strive to emulate and become - the leader who is fully God aware. An in-depth dive into the life of Nehemiah will expose all those characteristics that would inspire us by this amazing leader's character and provide a template for our own development. His leadership is highlighted by LEAD:
L - love the person of God, the purposes of God and the people of God (Neh 1:2-11)
E - exercise and expand your leadership skills and gifts (Neh 1:11)
A - advanced planning is essential, for leaders see further than others see, more than others see and before others see (Neh 2:4-8)
D - Do it. Leaders take what they see, spend in prayer seeking God's ways, pull in key leaders, then get to the task at hand (Neh 3:1-32)
As you cultivate your own heart for God, for your calling in leadership, and for the people you lead and serve, may you each be encouraged by the One we serve with our whole hearts and entire being. You each remain in my heart, my thoughts, and my prayers as you put your hands to the tasks before you.
Speaking of leadership development, coming just after the first of the year are a number of excellent venues for you to cultivate your leadership skills and network with other Christian educators to expand your vision. Beginning in January 2019, two leadership specific opportunities are on the docket ... The Global Christian School Leaders Summit in San Antonio, Tx. You are invited to join ACS and 7 other Christian associations for this foremost gathering of school leaders worldwide. The theme for 2019 is "Innovate" and includes over 60 internationally known speakers and presenters. Learn more about this event.
Later in February (02/10-12/19) is the Rocky Mountain Regional Leaders Conference in Prescott, AZ for administrators, board members and EE program directors. All three of the tracks this year will focus on School Sustainability - how to cultivate it, maintain it, and manage it. Each track will provide a seasoned speaker addressing the practicalities of sustainability in schools and preschools. Plus, you will connect with leaders from around the region, engage in multiple round table discussions, and leave with practical tools for your setting.
Mark your calendars now. Kathie and I look forward to serving you this year and hope to see you at the PD Forums, the various Leadership Conferences, and all that we have in store for you this year. Check out the regional calendar for updates.
With great hope and expectation,
