FROM YOUR REGIONAL DIRECTOR
As I visit more schools and their leaders, I notice the school's profile and accomplishments, and I see their STORY. The story of discipleship, transformation, and school teams dedicated to honoring God by engaging students in a mission bigger than all of us. I would like to highlight three schools over the course of the next few Snapshots.
Meet Jan Pride, Executive Director of Happy Hands Education Center in Broken Arrow, OK. Happy Hands exists to bring literacy, language and the Word of God to deaf children. Only 7% of deaf children ever "hear" the Word of God in a language they understand. And 94% of children born deaf are born into families who have never experienced deafness before. They are lost and often if they are a churched family they become isolated because they don't feel accepted with a deaf child.
My greatest joy is to hear a parent sit in my office and commit their lives to Christ because of the ministry they have experienced at Happy Hands. Since the beginning, we've prayed that one day a child who came through Happy Hands in their earliest most formative years would commit their life to sharing Jesus with their own deaf population.
This year, one of our kindergarten graduates, who is now a young married woman, has been accepted along with her husband into a mission training program to take the Word of God to the deaf around the world. They will train in Washington DC and then Romania and then their prayer is to minister to the deaf in Greece. ACSI shares in this great joy!
