"Rest time is not waste time. It is economy to gather fresh strength... It is wisdom to take occasional furlough. In the long run, we shall do more by sometimes doing less." - Charles Spurgeon

I know you're very busy, but please be sure to save the date for your fall district meeting. These meetings are getting better and better...just ask someone who attended this past fall! This year, we plan on taking a deep dive into the subject of school safety. This issue encompasses much more than the current political climate and media would have us believe (i.e. gun control, etc.). We will answer the question: What does it mean to be "safe" in a Christian school?

A Christian worldview approach to safety views this important matter holistically:

  • Emotional Safety - what does is mean for a student to be emotionally safe in a school setting?
  • Physical Safety - what must a school provide (policies, procedures, facilities, etc.) to ensure physical safety?
  • Spiritual Safety - how can a Christian school provide an environment of spiritual safety which allows students a safe environment to wrestle with their spiritual condition, belief and faith? Is it safe to doubt here?

Be sure to attend your fall District Meeting, so you can participate and be a part of this very important discussion!

In closing, my prayer for you, before you head off for some much-deserved R&R, is in keeping with Spurgeon's very wise words: that the summertime will truly be an opportunity for renewal and reflection - and expressions of gratitude - for all God has and will accomplish in and through you and your team.

P.S. Since the Maundy Thursday Day of Prayer, we have received many amazing reports from schools all over the world about answered prayer. One Christian school in the Northeast region of the US shared that they were about to be foreclosed upon because of a large debt they weren't able to pay. Since they asked the Christian school movement to pray for them, God has provided a donor to pay their entire debt and enable the school to continue their ministry. Praise the Lord! Consider encouraging others by sharing stories of answered prayers on social media using the hashtag #SchoolsThatPray.
