Ken Townsend Retirement
Dr. Ken Townsend, regional director of ACSI Northwest, has announced his retirement from ACSI. We are grateful for the excellent and tireless service that Dr. Townsend has provided to our member schools over the past 12 years. Dr. Townsend will be honored for his service at the annual Leadership Conference at Seaside (April 30–May 2, 2017). Read Ken's letter here.
ACSI will begin the process of identifying the next leader for ACSI Northwest in a few weeks. Although the position will not officially begin until July 1, 2017, we will aim to identify the new leader by March 1. The position will be posted at ACSI.org in early November; applications should be submitted by January 3, 2017. Interviews will be held during January and February.
Although only the Lord knows who the next leader of the northwest region will be, he or she is probably serving as a head of school in the region. Several years ago, I made a similar transition from a position as a school head in Philadelphia to one on the ACSI staff. Although I miss the relational aspects of serving in one specific school community, I have been greatly blessed by seeing many different schools and providing support to them. God is at work in many places! Serving the Lord with ACSI will require the ability to travel—primarily in the five-state northwest region, but also to Colorado Springs or other locations for staff meetings.
The mission of ACSI is to strengthen Christian schools and equip Christian educators worldwide as they prepare students academically and inspire them to become devoted followers of Jesus Christ. The regional director spearheads that mission with schools in the region; he or she will be a visionary, innovative, experienced Christian school leader who will serve member schools primarily by challenging schools and school leaders to higher levels of spiritual and academic excellence, and by providing ongoing school improvement opportunities through accreditation and professional development. The regional director has a collaborative relationship with local colleagues, regional office staff, ACSI Senior Staff, and all of the member schools.
The application process begins with visiting the Work at ACSI webpage and submitting an application. The senior director for our western regions (Mr. Jerry Bowen, also serving as regional director for the Rocky Mountain Region) will be chairing a search committee. The committee will interview finalists and make a recommendation for the appointment to Dr. Dan Egeler, President of ACSI. We are already praying that the Lord will clearly communicate who should be our next leader in the northwest—both to the right candidate and to our ACSI team.
Yours in Him,
Stephen P. Dill, EdD
Senior Vice President, ACSI
