2010 Administrator & Board Conference Workshop Presenters Needed

We would like to present an opportunity for you to present at the ACSI Administrator and Board Conference to be held in Lancaster, PA, on January 28 & 29, 2010. Most of you are aware that this is one of the largest conferences of its kind in the country. In past years, this has been a traditional conference with keynote speakers followed by workshop sessions. In 2009, we tried something much more thematic in nature. A series of connected keynotes were followed by guided discussion groups on the topic being presented. As a result of the extremely positive response to this format, we are continuing with some of the same elements.

We have invited Dr. Gene Frost, author of Learning from the Best, to be the keynote speaker. Learning from the Best is a book, co-published by Christian Schools International and ACSI, that deals with the principles of the book Good to Great (Jim Collins, 2001) specifically applied to Christian schools. Dr. Frost will be presenting these principles during his keynote addresses.

After the three keynote addresses there will be interactive workshop sessions we have entitled, “Learning from the Best.” We are asking schools to apply to present during these sessions.

Here are the criteria and information:

  1. The school is engaged in a best practice with demonstrably positive results for their Christian school. The topics are wide open and could range from finance, curricula, enrollment retention/marketing, spiritual formation, staff recruitment/development, board issues, etc.
  2. The best practice is one that could benefit another Christian school and is transferable to another school setting.
  3. Application is made to the Northeast Regional Office by October 1, 2009. Applicants will be notified if they have been chosen to present by November 1, 2009. The assumption will be made that each applicant is making a commitment to attend the conference if chosen.
  4. The school is a current member of ACSI.
  5. The school will be responsible for the costs associated with the conference (transportation, lodging, meals, etc.).
  6. ACSI will provide one complimentary registration and a second registration at 50% to each applicant chosen to present (approximately a $120 value).
  7. Each “Learning from the Best” session will be 90 minutes in length. If justification is given as to why two 90-minute sessions are necessary, this will be considered. If your session is chosen to be presented as a two-part series, the benefit in item #6 will be doubled (3 complimentary registrations).
  8. The application must indicate how the session will be interactive in nature and should include more than just a verbal presentation.

An application is available and is a fillable form. Simply click where you would like to type and begin typing. Completed forms may be returned to the as an email attachment.
