Tom McClure Int’l Teacher Awards

Last Updated Dec 8, 2011

What is this award?

The Tom McClure International Teacher Awards have been established to honor the legacy of a gifted educator and dedicated missionary, Tom McClure. Tom had been in education for over thirty years with twenty of those years with ACSI as Associate Director and Director of the Southeast Region. God led Tom and his wife, Pat, to the ACSI Europe mission field in 2005, serving in Budapest, Hungary. In May 2006 on his way home from visiting a school, the vehicle Tom was traveling in was hit by a truck and Tom was paralyzed from the neck down. He was flown back to the United States for treatment, but never recovered. He went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2006. These annual awards will honor his life and his passion for Christian education and missions.

Who receives these awards?

These monetary awards will be given to teachers and administrators who have chosen to give a year or more of their lives to teach in a foreign country and who must raise their own support. Teachers and administrators must send in a request to receive an application to be eligible for the awards. The applications will be reviewed by the Tom McClure family. Those who receive the awards will be notified by mail and award checks will be sent to their mission sending agencies. Hopefully, four to five awards will be given annually as the funds continue to grow. In the future we would like to help national teachers seeking higher degrees for Christian school advancement.
