REACH 2019 Updates
During the summer of 2020, ACSI revised several indicators in Standard 4 to provide more flexibility in meeting the indicators outlining personnel qualifications. These changes are effective immediately. Indicators 4.4 and 4.6 (K-12 Administrator and Faculty certification requirements) were revised to make schools aware of an additional option for fulfilling those indicators. Indicators 4.4a, 4.5a, and 4.5b (dealing with Early Education directors, teachers, and teacher assistants, respectively) were revised to add a professional growth plan option (eliminating the need for waivers), making it easier for Early Education programs to meet the requirements. We will post the revised Standards Manual, Rubrics Manual, and Standards Checklist as soon as those are reformatted. In the meantime, we have created a document with those revised indicators and posted it below. Additionally, there is a link to more information on the School-Based Professional Development Program (for indicators 4.4 and 4.6), and there are 3 supporting documents for the Early Education indicators.
Please note: Schools who were in compliance with 4.4 and 4.6 (applicable to K-12 teachers and administrators) will still be in compliance with the revised indicators. The requirement did not change, as the revision simply provided clarification and an additional option.
EE programs who were in compliance with 4.4a, 4.5a, and 4.5b without the use of waivers will still be in compliance with the revised indicators. With waivers being eliminated, EE programs who previously utilized waivers to meet those indicators will find a new option of creating a professional growth plan as a way to to meet the compliance level of the indicator. There are supporting documents (below) to assist schools in the creation of the professional growth plan for EE staff who use that option to meet the indicator.
