October 19, 2026

ACSI is glad to celebrate its second annual Africa Week of Christian Education (SAEduc), Oct. 19-25, 2026. This week-long celebration brings together ~360 schools and ~340 churches from at least seven African countries to build bridges of collaboration, prayer, and financial support among churches, schools, and families.

The vision of SAEduc was inspired by the declaration of the Africa Roundtable 4 on Christian Education convened by ACSI with over 230 delegates from 30 nations in Rwanda in 2023. It contributes value in strengthening partnership and collaboration between the church, family, and school in discipling the next generation through Christ-centered education.

Countries including Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Chad and others across the continent will observe this special week through in-school celebrations, student conferences, teachers’ conventions, a dinner, and church visits.

Africa is home to the world’s fastest-growing church. Roughly 70% of sub-Saharan Africa's population is under the age of 30. This marks a significant opportunity to reach the next generation for Christ.

ACSI Director for Africa Dr. Sosthene Maletoungou shared the purpose and vision for this week.

“The Africa Week of Christian Education is designed to mobilize, connect, engage, and celebrate the commitment and support of key stakeholders for the advancement of Christ-centered education founded on biblical values,” he said.

The theme for SAEduc this year is “Building for Generations” from Proverbs 13:22: “A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.”

Each of the seven days focuses on a specific activity carried out simultaneously across the continent. These activities include:

Day 1: Continental Day of Prayer for Christian Education

Day 2: Christian Education Student Convention

Days 3 and 4: Teacher conference

Day 5: Reflection and press conference

Day 6: Fundraising dinners, inter-school sports competitions, and other cultural activities

Day 7: Visits to local churches

With the vision of developing Christ-centered culture for the transformation and prosperity of all nations (Deuteronomy 11:18–25), the ACSI Africa Week of Christian Education helps to cultivate unity and local resource mobilization among the wider community of believers in to support the advancement of Kingdom education for transformation in Africa.
