Helping people develop their “cultural intelligence” is Leslie’s passion. Cultural Intelligence or CQ is the capability to relate and work effectively in culturally diverse situations. Leslie received her Master of Education from Covenant College and served as the head of school of the Christian International School of Prague for over 11 years. In addition to working as an Educational Consultant for the Association of Christian Schools International Europe office, she is also a Cross-cultural Training Specialist for the Presbyterian Church of America’s Refugee and Immigrant Ministries. Leslie helps the mission board she and her husband work with, Global Scholars, assist families with their educational needs.
Cultural Intelligence Track Session 1
Description: In this session, Leslie will introduce teaching with cultural intelligence, or “CQ,” in an international school. In this first session, she will share important research on teaching in different cultures and examples in the Bible of how to connect with different cultures.
Cultural Intelligence Track Session 2
Description: In this session you will gain a better understanding of what culture is and how different cultures can look by examining cultural dimensions and values. This examination will help you understand how to help your students interact with different cultures and create a safe and accepting classroom.
Cultural Intelligence Track Session 3
Description: In this session Leslie will share four important capabilities (CQ Drive, CQ Knowledge, CQ Strategy, and CQ Action) that allows you to develop your own CQ and begin to apply these ideas in your classroom and school. Developing your own CQ will allow for you to stay true to your own preferences while showing respect and grace to the different preferences around you.
Cultural Intelligence Track Session 4
Description: In this session Leslie answers the question, “Now What?” She provides helpful prompts to allow you to begin creating an implementation plan. You will discuss ways to make your school more culturally intelligent, your dream vision for your students’ Cultural Intelligence, and how you can biblically support these efforts.
