The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) has been deeply involved in praying for and raising funds to aid Christian schools in war-torn Ukraine. Since the start of the war, the Association has raised more than $69,000 in donations from 265 donors to be disbursed for the following uses: 1) Assistance with the expenses of evacuating school staff and students, 2) Support for Christian schools that are housing refugees, 3) Help for continued operations during and after the war.

A large portion of donated funds have been sent to Ars Longa Foundation, which supports three Christian schools providing refuge for families fleeing to Western Ukraine.

A director at one of these schools wrote ACSI a letter expressing her gratitude for the funds.

“The war forced many families to leave their homes,” she shared. “We host approximately 60-100 women and children... I can't tell the exact number because there are people who continue their travel further into Hungary, but there are always new refugees.”

During their stay at this Christian school, families are given three warm meals a day. Many attend Bible teaching services with the rest of the school community.

Collectively, the Christian school staff work to create an inclusive, restful environment.

We try to add color to their days with interesting games and activities,” the director said. “The children do handicrafts, they use our toys placed in the yard. The pastor has spiritual conversations with those who require it. There are also those who learn Hungarian in the afternoon with the help of the school's teachers.”

As the war continues to unfold, this Christian school and many others remain committed to providing refugees with shelter, food, and safe, Christ-centered communities.

ACSI is honored to partner with other Christians for this cause and will maintain communication with those on the ground to determine how to best meet the needs.

Throughout the uncertainty surrounding the war, ACSI is praying the following Scripture over all in Ukraine:

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” -Psalm 18:24.
