The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) was founded in 1978 when several regional U.S. school associations joined, becoming a united voice to advance excellence in Christian education. The leaders’ vision was to inspire, challenge, and resource educators and schools. First headquartered in La Habra, California, ACSI moved to an expanded facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1994. Today, ACSI serves 25,000 schools in 108 countries.

For more than 40 years, ACSI has faithfully lived out its mission around the world:

To strengthen Christian schools and equip Christian educators worldwide as they prepare students academically and inspire them to become devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Since our founding in 1978, our vision has steadfastly desired that:

ACSI will become a leading international organization that promotes Christian education and provides training and resources to Christian schools and Christian educators.

As our mission continues, ACSI is renewing our commitment to Christian schools and educators to help them deal with today’s challenging times—characterized by seismic cultural shifts and disruption.

Today and into the future we will continue to assist, encourage and develop:

  • Schools that contribute to the public good through effective teaching and learning and that are biblically sound, academically rigorous, socially engaged, and culturally relevant; and
  • Educators who embody a biblical worldview, engage in transformational teaching and discipling, and embrace personal and professional growth.

Vision 2030

Our Vision 2030 strategic plan continues to build upon our three foundational pillars of Advancing, Access, and Advocacy through four new growth initiatives to globally support flourishing Christ-centered education. We will continue in bold and innovative ways, not only responding to critical needs before us today but also planning for the future of Christ-centered education tomorrow.

We invite you to join us as together, we advance the cause of Kingdom education today and into the future.

ACSI’s Annual Day of Prayer Unites Thousands of Christian Schools Worldwide

Feb 24, 2026, 07:31 by Brittany Steward

Thousands of Christian educators and students from around the world will join in celebrating the ninth annual ACSI Day of Prayer today.

The ACSI Day of Prayer is a highly anticipated event dedicated to strengthening Christ-centered education through prayer. ACSI President & CEO Dr. Larry Taylor believes in the power of the ACSI network of schools worldwide coming together and lifting up the mission of Christian education in prayer.

"Now more than ever, there is an increased global desire for Christ-centered education, which is an encouraging trend to witness,” he said. “This not only reflects God’s work this year, but it also encourages us to seek Him daily, living with hearts full of gratitude for His provision and unwavering love."

The theme for this year’s Day of Prayer is “Power in Prayer,” reminding us that God listens and works when His people pray. According to James 5:16, we are called to pray for one another because the prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. This year's theme will serve as a reminder that all prayers matter.

Mike Epp, ACSI Senior Vice President of Global Development, believes this event marks a beautiful, renewed commitment to worshipping God and seeking Him wholeheartedly.

“ACSI’s Global Day of Prayer stands as a beautiful and powerful reminder that, through Jesus Christ, we are united across nations and cultures in one sacred mission—to teach, disciple, and lead children into a life-changing relationship with Him,” he said. “This year’s theme, ‘Power in Prayer (James 5:16),’ invites us to seek God with bold faith and expectant hearts, trusting fully in His limitless power to move, provide, and strengthen Christian educators and students around the world.”

Schools can participate by submitting their prayer requests through the electronic form, which allows requests to be visible publicly on the ACSI website. They can also download the prayer guide, containing prayer station ideas and thematic Bible verses, to host an in-house Day of Prayer with their school communities.

During the 2025 Day of Prayer, ACSI received more than 640 prayer requests from 60+ countries, including Nigeria, Uganda, Hungary, Guatemala, Paraguay, and more. This year, schools have already joined in by submitting their prayer requests, demonstrating a continued global commitment to seeking God together.

Schools creatively structure their in-house Day of Prayer gatherings. In 2025, educators shared their celebration ideas on social media, including school-wide Chapels, Day of Prayer tent stations, art and music projects, and more.
