Spelling Bee Overview
Participating in spelling bees significantly enhances students' academic success by improving their spelling, vocabulary, and overall understanding of the English language. Beyond these benefits, spelling bees also develop valuable skills such as public speaking, adhering to precise rules, and the discipline of long-term study. While some students find their niche in sports, music, or the arts, for others, spelling bees provide a unique opportunity to excel and shine.
The ACSI Spelling Bee Kit equips schools to host their own engaging spelling bees for grades 1-8. In addition, ACSI offers live Spelling Bee competitions for grades 5-8, giving students the chance to demonstrate their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment alongside their ACSI peers from other schools.
2025/26 Spelling Bee Kit (Grades 1-8)
The ACSI Spelling Bee Kit equips you to host a spelling bee for grades 1–8 and opens the door for your grades 5–8 winners to advance and compete with students in our live online ACSI Spelling Bee: Semi-Finals and Championship Finals.
Each Kit includes everything needed for grades 1-8 and contains the following:
- Guidelines for running an official ACSI Spelling Bee with sample scripts
- Practice word lists with pronunciations and definitions for grade levels 1,2,3,4, 5-6, 7-8
- Official School-Level Bee competition word lists for all grade levels
- Master participant certificates templates
*To participate in the ACSI Spelling Bee Semi-Finals and Championship Finals, students must first compete in a school-hosted Spelling Bee using an ACSI Spelling Bee Kit. Registration details are included in the kit, and participation is limited to ACSI member schools. Registration closes February 6, so school-level bees must be held before this date.

Live Competitions (Grades 5-8)
We’re excited to announce that the ACSI Spelling Bees for grades 5–8 are virtual! These optional, online live competitions are open to top students from school-hosted Spelling Bees. Upon purchasing the Spelling Bee Kit, you will receive confirmation with links to resources and an invitation to register your top students for a live semi-final competition once your school bee has been held.
