Grades 1–8
Spelling Bee Overview
Participating in spelling bees significantly enhances students' academic success by improving their spelling, vocabulary, and overall understanding of the English language. Beyond these benefits, spelling bees also develop valuable skills such as public speaking, adhering to precise rules, and the discipline of long-term study. While some students find their niche in sports, music, or the arts, for others, spelling bees provide a unique opportunity to excel and shine.
The ACSI Spelling Bee Kit equips schools to host their own engaging spelling bees for grades 1-8. In addition, ACSI offers live Spelling Bee competitions for grades 5-8, giving students the chance to demonstrate their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment alongside their ACSI peers from other schools.
Spelling Bee Kit (Grades 1-8)
ACSI provides a Spelling Bee Kit designed to help member schools host in-person spelling bees. Schools may organize events for their students or invite other schools that have purchased the kit to participate.
Price for the Spelling Bee Kit (grades 1-8) - $290
Each Kit includes everything needed for grades 1-8 and contains the following:
- Instructions for running an ACSI Spelling Bee at your school
- Practice word lists - including 200-250 words with pronunciations and sentences. One list for each grade level 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5-6, and 7-8.
- Description of types of words to study
- Winner and Participant Certificate Master Templates
- Spelling Bee Competition word lists (sent directly to the Coordinator)
The 2025–26 Spelling Bee Kits will be available for purchase soon in the ACSI Store. Stay tuned for additional information.
*To participate in the ACSI Divisional and International Spelling Bees, students must participate in a school-hosted Spelling Bee utilizing an ACSI Spelling Bee Kit purchased by their school. ACSI member schools only.
Live Competitions (Grades 5-8)
We’re excited to announce that the ACSI Spelling Bees for grades 5–8 are virtual! These optional, online live competitions are open to top students from school-hosted Spelling Bees. Upon purchasing the Spelling Bee Kit, you will receive confirmation with links to resources and an invitation to register your top students for a live divisional competition once your school bee has been held.

International Bee
- April 14, 2026
